A Homemade Tradition

Virginia Peanuts, the most sought after peanuts in the world for their crunchy large kernels, high nutritional value, and distinctively unique taste, have been grown in Southeastern Virginia since 1860s. The peanut has been used extensively throughout history from feeding soldiers to fans at the ball games. Any other peanut from any other region of the country is just not the same; we invite you to taste for yourself the Virginia Peanut Company difference.

The Virginia Peanut Company is proud to provide you with a traditional style Virginia Peanut. All of our plump, meaty jumbo peanuts are hand cooked using the same methods that have been handed down from generation to generation, from tiny kitchen recipes made in small batches, with no additives or preservatives to alter the all natural taste.

It is our pleasure and honor to be able to bring to your family and friends our homemade Virginia tradition. We feel so confident these will be the absolute best you have ever tasted, therefore we back our product with a 100% guarantee.

We thank you for giving us the opportunity to provide you a quality gourmet snack.

Our Peanut Process

We take great pride in producing not only the greatest tasting gourmet peanuts, but in also going the extra mile to provide the highest quality. From harvest, our Virginia peanuts raised in Southampton County, VA are cleaned, shelled, and sized. Because we want to provide you with the most flavor, we only select the super extra-large peanuts for our gourmet cooking. They are definitely the “cream of the crop” as this size makes up less than the top 10% of the crop each year.

The peanuts then get blanched (with the exception of our Redskins flavor) to remove the redskins, called the testa. It should be noted that there are benefits from eating peanut skins. Not only are they high in fiber, but they also contain resveratrol, the same antioxidant that red wine is famous for, which is also an antimicrobial. Resveratrol can lower blood sugar and may be an important weapon in the fight against cancer — roasting peanuts with their skins increases the amount of antioxidants and prepares them for cooking.

The third step is cooking. We blister-fry our peanuts! Peanuts are set up in small batches of about 15 lbs, which allows us to keep a close eye on their quality as they cook. First, they are soaked in warm water for a short time, drained and then deep-fried in 100% canola oil.  They will be cooked all the way through until they’re super crisp and crunchy.

Out of the fryer, peanuts are poured out onto the drying conveyor and perfectly seasoned with our proprietary blends of seasonings. All our seasonings are developed with a master chef, and we have made every effort to keep them 100% natural and preservative free. This fine-tuned process and attention to detail guarantees you the best tasting peanut you will ever have!

Once those steps are completed, we have a delicious peanut snack, ready to make you and your family happy!
